Consciousness & Virtue are Derivitives of Agency

Every year millions of people make resolutions, set markers for what they wish to achieve, and year on year, they fall back into the same patterns of familiarity. The tides of mimesis wash over like a flood. Subject to circumstance, victimized to tides of time, statistics on a screen.

The era where time and effort could be exchanged for freedom is ending.

We are entering a phase of feudalism.

The powers that be are consolidating control to manage a population they no longer need.

As much as people want to deny it, our ancestors existed, they were wise, and accomplished great things. Stood on the shoulders of giants, a great exponential of complexity and emergence, "who are you?" At what point will you have done enough to be worthy? At what point will you have become an equal amongst those who have become more than men. Given the opportunity of the greatest crises of potentiality in history, who if not you, will be able to rise above their time?

Betting on stasis in a dynamic universe is a losers game.

Law is no substitute for morality, Government no substitute for Individuals

For the last century, "knowledge" (knowing how to code, how to write a contract, how to diagnose a patient) was scarce. You had to pay high wages to people who spent years acquiring that knowledge. Just as the industrial revolution made physical strength a commodity, annihilating the middle class, AI has created a near-infinite supply of average-to-high-level cognitive processing.

In a commoditized market, the middle is hollowed out.

Because of this shift, the established order billions have taken for granted is on shaky foundations. Not simply organizations such as governments or companies, but the abstract order. The idea of citizens, the idea of law, the idea of wealth, even the idea... or rather who defines the idea of what humanity is, what it strives towards, who it benefits... is under a brutal competition.

No amount of technology will substitute this nature. In Babylon's Tower, Roman Legions, Courts of Qin, The British Empire, The United States of America, and amidst the collapse of it all, progress depends on the unreasonable man.

No price is too high for the privilege of owning yourself

If knowledge, or at least 95% of knowledge becomes a commodity it means individuals can no longer be tested in a traditional manner. Those tests would be at worse, too easy to game, and at best functionally irrelevant in measure. How then do you discover talent? How do you find the exceptional? The answer is straight forward. You must then wait until exceptions prove themselves via something of measure, in MRR, against their peers, etc.

This however poses an issue for power. If those who are exceptional prove themselves before being discovered, then they no longer need to sell themselves or rely on external capital. Venture Capital loses its current paradigm, and the opportunity presents itself to compete.

What if we built a system to find talent early? What if we took a bet?

Not only will AI become more capable and intelligent than any human today, but even then, the exceptional within humanity will dominate. If we provided them with an opportunity to prove themselves, who would turn it down? If we provide those who succeed with real tools, intelligence, networks, and capital... can we out coordinate the titans of industry?
